This fort is 3500 feet high and it is part of Giridurg. This fort of Satara district of Satara district is considered as easy for trekkers.

Kalyangad is a fort in Satara division. This fort can be seen in the half-day from Satara. The forts in this area have been dominated by a mountain which is separated from the main mountain range. History

 

Kalyangad's second name is 'Nandagiri Fort' According to the copper plate inscribed in Satara, Shilahar king II Bhoj built this fort. This fort 1178 to AD It was built during the year 120 9. From many copies found in Shilahar, it seems that Shilahar kings performed many donations to the Jains, and prove that Shilahahar has been constructed by the Gatha at the Kalyangad cave. C. In 1673, Shivaji succumbed to Satara and his neighboring lands. Kalyangadas were also included. Later, after the Shiva period, all the affairs were entrusted to the delegates. GETTING THERE


Maharashtra ST (State Transport) buses and trains are available all over from Pune and Mumbai Mainly
There is only one way to get to the fort. This route comes from the village of Nandagiri (Dhumalewadi) on the bottom. Get a train from Satara ST station to Satara Road. Satara Road to Nandagiri is a distance of 3 kms. From there, take a bus to Kinhai, or take a bus from Satara to Qinhai to land in Nandigiri. It takes 45 minutes to get to the fort from the village.



ENTRY FEES


There is no entry fee to visit the fort, only ID is needed.

Places to visit on the Kamalgad fort


  • ·       The first door is north-facing.

  • ·       After coming inside, there is a temple in front.


  • ·       There is 12 months of water on either side of the bed.

  • ·       At the end of Bhayara, there are such idols of the

o   Parshvanath,
o   The statue of Padmavati Devi
o   The idol of Shri Dattatreya, which were made in the ninth century.


  • ·       By reaching the fort, there is a glimpse of Lord Hanuman in front of Hanuman temple.

  • ·       On the left side, there is a bamboo house. In this house, a sadhu is sitting for penance.

  • ·       In front of Bainagarh, Kalyanswami's Samadhi is located.

  • ·       The temple of Lord Ganesh and a big lake.

  • ·       In front of the end, the presence of

o   Ajinkya
o   Yavatishwar
o   Chandanvandan
o   Mora
o   Vairatagad
  • ·       It takes half an hour to walk around.



OPENING/ CLOSING TIMINGS AND DAYS


The fort is open 24 Hrs to general public for all days of the week. One has to show their ID to enter the fort and for foreign nationals, passport is mandatory. It comes under Maharashtra tourism and department also promotes the heritage site. This fort is a must visit place if you are going on a Maharashtra tour.

There are 5 to 7 people staying in the Hanuman temple in front of the fort or in the premises with Bamanguri. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the fort.
