This fort is 3200 feet high, in the Giridurg fort. This fort in Matheran hill district of Thane district is considered to be of medium to trekers.
Malanggad is 16 kms south of Kalyan. It is built on a high hill at a distance. This fort is in the southwest of Badlapur and on the east of Mumbai and Sashti. Karanja and Uran, along with the Northwest and Borghat, Bhimashankar and Malsega Ghat, this part is very important for the battle.

History

The English officer of Abingdon encircled the Malanggad in 1780. Marathas prevent war in the monsoon. Realizing this, he decided to attack the Marathas on the rains. As soon as the battle started, the southwest and north sides were closed. He decided to take Piramah first. There Pandurang Ketkar was assigned to 300 people. The Marathas did not resist due to the sudden attack. 125 people ran for gold machi. On the other, there was no place on the fort, so Kalyan's case ran to the judge. To reach the fort, Abingdon unearthed the fort from the base of the fort to Peer Machi. Nana Fadnavis tried to seize the siege but did not succeed. Abigdon set up three guns on Pir Machi's plateau and started firing on gold machi. But because the entrance is built on a wide open, the balls do not get there. Because Marathas knew many thieves in the forest, it was not possible to break away from the outside world. The castle asked for help from Anandrao Dhulap and Kashi Pant but he could not send 700 soldiers who could not reach there. Captain Avigden hiked 350 people to the gold machi. But Marathas rushed to the fort and sent them back. Avignon removed guns from Peer Machi.

Gangadharraoan got the opportunity to fill the grain and ammunition. Nana Phadnis sent Balaji Vishwanath Pathak and Radhovishwanath Godbole to the army and raised the siege. Their army reached the village situated on the north side of the Malang at Shirval. The army of the Marathas was about three thousand. They tried to dispel the enemy. But they failed. On September 16, a Phaltan of Gardens went on the Peer Machi. Because of the attacks on the British, the British took out guns hastily. Major Westfal sent an extra kick to help Abingdon. This army demolished the Maratha chieftain with the logistics. Therefore, there was a shortage of foodgrain in Malanggad. Some of the grains are destroyed by rain, the treasures have come to an end. The Marathas had broken the British connection. So Kern Hortlet secured the route of Belapur, Panvel and Taloje. Attacked the Maratha camp at Shirval and drove them out.

The cannon firing started. Around 350 soldiers were kept ready to break into the wall or to get inside. But Ketkar fought the fort with courage. Many British soldiers came here. The British stopped the attacks. But the siege was not raised. They took out guns from Peer Machi. By blocking the Marathas and making them starve. The British decided to surrender to them. After October, famine began to fall on the fort. Gangadhar Karlekar from outside could not send any help. Finally, Nana Fadnavis took some Sardar with a large army and handed over to Malanggad and Vasai. Nana and Haripant Phadke, who came with their ten thousand soldiers, came to Khandala and decided to go down to Kalyan after getting the Ghat of Rajmachi. Therefore, Hartley was supposed to be condemned. Immediately Hartley withdrew the army from Malanggad and the Marathas sent more troops and supplies to Malanggad. Thus, Marathas eventually fought with Malanggad.
