The origin of this fort is said to date back to the 2nd century B.C the same age as the Thanale Caves and Khadsamble caves nearby. It was then called Bhrorapgad (after, Bhoraidevi). In 1436, it was captured by the Bahamani Sultan. In 1657, the Marathas took over and renamed it "Sudhagad"(the sweet one). It was a large fort and Sudhagad was considered by Shivaji as the capital of his kingdom. He surveyed it, but instead chose Raigad because of its central location.

These Sages established Bhorai Devi on this mountain. C. In 1648, this fort joined Swarajya. It is mentioned in this regard that, in the sugar market, the Malavji Naik planted the plow. Under the leadership of Sardar Maloji Bhosale, Jadhav and Sarnaik first went to the fort. They stood up and stood abreast with their backs. SambhajiRao went ahead and went to the forehead. Panchvis went ahead and patroled. Beckscill guarded. Later, the fort and the people came running from the shore. At the time of the assassination, the fort was worked. After going to the poster, they were captured. 'Shivaji Maharaj named the fort' Sudhagad 'on the fort from Bhorpagad. Sambhaji and Aurangzeb's rebel son Akbar met in the village of 'Pachapur' at the foot of the fort. On the day of Bhadrapad Purnima, on the day of Bhadrapad, Sambhaji passed away on the path of Goddess Parbali in the Parli village, in the Ashtaparthi Mandal of Maharaj, Annaji Datto, Balaji Varjei Chitnis, his son, Varji Ballal, and Hirojji Farjand.
